The Abegg Love Letters

To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ; mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. -Jude 1:1

As Missionaries with United World Mission, we serve in Latin America to provide support & training to missionaries on the field. We work with Latin Partner Ministries that focus on everything from theological education to medical care, from children’s homes to retirement homes. Our goal is to come along side organizations & amplify their impact for good and the Gospel.

The Abegg's
Love Letter

To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ; Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. -Jude 1:1

Providing Healing & Hope to
Victims of Sex Trafficking

January: Human Trafficking Awareness Month

It's been an enormously busy month, with an unprecedented number of presentations at High schools and Universities!

Two weeks ago, we presented the film "Chosen" to the entire Senior Class at Miami Beach Senior High. Numerous students came forward for information on counseling or assisting with our programs! Read more about the event on our LoF Center Blog
Barry University Invited the LoF Center to share at their "Stand Up for Freedom" event. It was an evening of music, inspirational messages and a call for students, staff and the public to stop turing a blind eye to human trafficking. Some of our newest trainees signed up at this event.
Last Week I had the privilege of teaching on the reality of Human Trafficking and God's heart for the abused at FIU's Wesley Comunity Night. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and encouragement. Freedom week continued with a panel discussion and other events that our staff and I had the privilege of assisting with. More at FIU Freedom Week.
In December, the LoF Center participated in a panel discussion at Miami Dade College North on Human Trafficking in the US. The event was sponsored by the "Route to Human Rights Committee" and offers an opportunity to share why we do what we do, which comes down to loving God and our suffering "neighbor".  More on this event at Miami Dade Event.

Next week I will be leading the Miami Dade College Biscayne Bay Campus Inter Varsity chapter in reaching out to businesses that can identify and become part of the rescue of victems. See Sharing 1 Love events for more info.

Learn more from NBC's interview with LoF Center Director Jorge Veitia. For info, see our Event Page

Thank You for Helping Us End 2015 Well

Keep the Work Going in 2016

The good and the bad:

As a family, we are imensly thankful for everyone who blessed us with year end gifts, continued support or newly joined the team. These faith filled steps keep our family above water and grow the LoF Center's ministry.

As the LoF Center's director of operations, developing and keeping programs on track is an immense challenge.  Frankly, I'm good at program logistics and providing guidance for our volunteers, HOWEVER... I'm not so good at fundraising, though I'm working on it! As missionaries, our support is vital, and I desperately need your prayers. Right now, raising support is a part time job on top of full time ministry. Though we rejoice in connecting with friends and supporters, it also means dedicating less time to the ministry. Please pray for discernment on how to strike a God honoring balance. Please also consider sharing our work with those who may be interested in helping  the broken and battered.

Intercession:

Please help cover our family and work with your prayers:
  • for wisdom to manage the necessity of finances and the demands of ministry.
  • for discernment on educating and providing for two pre-teen boys with desires to do sports and other activities currently out of our reach.
  • for the new mentors taking part in training over the next 9 weeks.
  • for providing care to extended family living extremely far away.
  • Praise for a friends offer to help with airlines tickets to Chile (averaging $1k/ticket) some time this year. It's been 7 years since we've seen family there.

How to Join Our Support Team:

If you'd like to make a gift or become a regular supporter, please contact us directly or visit our UWM-Missionary Support Page. (Note, once you click "give" fill in the two drop downs as in the image below).
Or you can mail a check with an accompanying note stating "For the Abegg Family" to 205 Regency Executive Park Dr Suite 430, Charlotte, NC 28217. The final super easy way is to simply phone United World Mission at 800-825-5896 and talk to the very helpful people there!

For Our Current Supporters

Unfortunately some supporters have found difficulty in setting up or updating regular giving. If you have not been receiving your giving receipts, or you've had changes to your credit card in the last year, please confirm that your gifts are getting through and are designated: Missionary - "Abegg, Kevin & Claudia - 27521" (either online or via phone # above). Thank you for your support and encouragement!
