The Abegg Love Letters

To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ; mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. -Jude 1:1

As Missionaries with United World Mission, we serve in Latin America to provide support & training to missionaries on the field. We work with Latin Partner Ministries that focus on everything from theological education to medical care, from children’s homes to retirement homes. Our goal is to come along side organizations & amplify their impact for good and the Gospel.

Yesterday afternoon we said "farewell" to my dad, Robert Leland Abegg around 5:45. He had a rough week due to the pain, but in the end went rather peacefully and surprisingly quickly in God's mercy. Just Saturday night he enjoyed a fantastic lobster and ribs dinner with the entire family including all 5 grandchildren. He polished off the meal and slowly but consistently slipped into slumber over the next three days. I can imagine him waltzing with my Grandmother "Mor-mor", playing "pull my finger" with Scott Mew and arguing about which one of them shot the prize squirrel back on the farm with Don Deviley. All Abegg! He will be dearly missed by many, and we thank you all who have poured out your love to him in the past days and continue to intercede for the family in the days ahead.
We did not say "Adiós/Goodbye" to my dad, but 'Hasta Luego/Until Later". We KNOW we will see him again and rejoice, thanking our Lord for this certainty:
I Thes. 1:4 "We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words".http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+thes+4&version=ESV )

More in the days to come. God bless and thank you again!
