While attending a training on developing and caring for Mentors of Victims of Human Sex Trafficking, Claudia and I realized what we've been fighting is BURNOUT.
Over the past 3 years we've been going full steam and ignoring that all the dashboard indicators have been in the red for a long time. Claudia and I started to be concerned about signs of what we thought could be early Alzheimers with forgetfulness, diminishing productivity (like getting this newsletter out!), lack of patience, constant exhaustion etc. By God's mercy, as we attended training on how to identify burnout in our mentors, we realized we had ALL of the symptoms ourselves! We were thankful to know we weren't loosing our minds! We're now learning how to accomplish the work the Lord has given us under His strength and provision and not our own!
We're simplifying our daily routine and cutting back in many areas in order to get the rest we need, and United World Mission has provided us with some immensely helpful coaching and care along with our local church and fellow laborers at the LoF Center. We ask for your PRAYER in three particular areas: Rest & Recuperation: As a family we will be taking a long overdue week of vacation to focus on one another, rest and the Lord. Please pray for protection and deep rest during this time. Upon our return we need to be able to prioritize the various demands we face and set aside the items we are NOT called to right now (which isn't easy, but oh so necessary)! Finances: Our financial support must continue to improve in order to provide the training, direction and care to survivors of sex trafficking through the LoF Center. This support helps with the family's daily needs (food, housing, transportation etc.) as well as any emergencies. Please prayerfully consider becoming both an intercession and financial supporter by contacting us or visiting our UWM Support Page. Ministry & Direction:As director of operations at the LoF center, and with numerous programs, events and client care trainings a month, there is a lot to manage. Please pray for the clients, the care givers, the staff and the future direction, plans and ministry involved in each. Intercession:This has been a very difficult time, and we've experienced what we can only interpret as direct opposition from an enemy that does not want us whole and wants to hamper the work we're called to do. We're asking those who are intercessors to "step into the gap" and cover our family and work in prayer. Let us know if you'd be willing and we will send you more details. |
